Approved Teacher/School Grants for 2019-2020

Professional Training & Development:

  • Orton-Gillingham Math Training: K-2nd grade teachers have now all been trained in Orton Gillingham math and provided masterpiece kits.

  • Orton-Gillingham Phonemic Awareness: New this year is Phonemic Awareness and the corresponding curriculum to increase student's phonemic awareness each day with activities.

  • Kagan Cooperative Learning - Teachers are working on “increasing engagement” - having the students talk more than listen.  This training provides teachers a lot of different strategies to enable students more opportunities to talk. An increase in children’s talking will increase learning.

Student & Classroom Support:

  • The Voyage: Adventures in Character: The Voyage focuses on eight different character traits throughout the year. Students participate in engaging activities that demonstrate character, learn how to apply what they are learning, and follow weekly episodes of The Voyage.

  • STEM supplies: new robots, a green screen app, more lego building bricks, and a straw rocket launcher kit were added to the STEM lab.

  • Technology: 50 laptops and 2 carts for 2nd and 3rd grade

  • Sora: The Foundation funded extended services for Sora.  Sora is an app that connects to Cobb County Public Library Overdrive collection that allows access to ebooks and audiobooks 24/7.
